Who we are
Deepak Foundation first began in 1982, Deepak Foundation conceptualized a unique Project Vivek Vidya, a Mobile Education Service that caters to less privileged communities with limited access to quality reading materials in rural, tribal, and urban communities. It is designed not only to ensure exposure to quality reading materials through library-support but also to develop children’s reading levels and other learning competencies that are crucial for success in academics across language and mathematics. The focus of the program is to build competencies that support children so that they do not drop out of school. Project Vivek Vidya, thus aims to equip children with the necessary competencies to read and write with understanding, think critically and creatively and develop social and emotional competencies and listen and speak with confidence. The project was piloted in 12 communities of Nandesari area of Baroda district from Gujarat.

How we will utilise these books
We have been using Pratham Books for the last three years, which helped us improve the reading skill of our children. Currently, we look forward to adding books to our existing library. With an aim to encourage and inculcate the habit of reading among rural children, we plan to equip these villages with libraries. The funds will be utilized to procure books for our Project Vivek Vidya program.
