Who we are
We are working in rural Maharashtra and we have an outreach to almost 50 villages and 4 talukas. We specifically deal with the school improvement program.
Corona has posed a socio-psychological stressed situation for children from rural areas. We have been working on the student engagement program during these uncertain times and relieving students of mental and psychological stress.
Our work and its impact
We are running a library on wheels concept. Through this mobile library, we have been reaching out to students from 50 villages. These books are circulated among students who are finding it interesting to read and exchange books of their choices. Most of the books are storybooks and fun activity books. We are now expanding our operation and trying to cover more villages. We have been running online sessions for students with psychologists and also Mohalla Classes for continuity of school education.
How we will utilise these books
These books will be part of our library on wheels - Pustakanchi Gadi - program and this library will be moving from one village to another for distributing and circulating books among children. This is a door to door visit concept where our library van is accessible to all students from the village. This will not only make students read joyful books while they are confined indoors but also avoid stress.
