Who we are
Amdabad block in Katihar, Bihar, is a highly flood-prone area. Every year floods throw the school-system out of gear. Even children are bereft of a shelter during floods. However, against odds, we aim to inculcate reading habits in children. We look forward to making these books easily accessible so children may get interested and this could give them a boost to aim for a better future
Our work and its impact
I am Rohan Hazra, a Fellow at Piramal Foundation. Currently, I am working in Amdabad Block as a Block Manager.
How we will utilise these books
Children are the future of our society and in Piramal Foundation we are trying to increase the SLO (Students Learning Outcome) and Transition rate. Education is the source of a better future for the children and if they will be educated they can build a better Nation. It also can impact their families economically. The educational needs of these children must be addressed for the betterment of society. In Phase-I, books will be distributed to 15 out of 137 schools in Amdabad Block. These books will augment existing libraries and reading programs in these schools.
