Who we are
We are a class of 85, 12-16 year olds studying in a low income private school in Mumbai. These kids come from very under resourced communities where they need to be inspired to be the change makers in the community, they are very keen readers and want to read more to expose themselves to the world, for that we require books to set up a library in class easily accessible to all kids. Help us become readers for life. Readers to be the change in the society.
Our work and its impact
I, TEACH FOR INDIA Fellow doing my fellowship and teaching 85, 9th graders in a low income community in Ganesh nagar, an under resourced community, located in Kandivali, Mumbai. I am Engineer by qualification trying to kindle young minds of my class.
How we will utilise these books
"One day all children will attain an excellent education" We are trying to provide an excellent education to kids coming from under privileged background, where kids have immense amount of potential, and eagerness to learn, but due to lack of resources and role models in the community they are left behind in the society. We are trying to change makers in the community who will impact all other children in their surroundings. We want to set up a library in school, we are planning to buy first 150 books. We will set up book issuing structures, will completely be run by students. Based on the need we will go for more books.
