Who we are
'A BOOK-A WEEK' is the motto of our program and aims to develop reading habits among students of Tambaram Municipal Higher Secondary School, Selaiyur
Our work and its impact
I am Anbuselvi R., the English teacher at Tambaram Municipal Higher Secondary School, Selaiyur, Chennai, TN. I have taught English as a second language to students from class 6 to 10 for the past 12 years.
How we will utilise these books
The program aims to inculcate reading habits among the students from underserved communities and who cannot afford reading materials such as newspapers and books. This program will inculcate reading habits and improve reading skills and vocabulary. There are nearly 200 English-medium and 200 Tamil-medium students without having access to read any other English books apart from textbooks. The funds will be utilized to procure books published by Pratham Books. These books will be made accessible to students of Tambaram Municipal Higher Secondary School with an objective to inculcate reading habits.
