Who we are
Do you feel reading skills are important ? If yes,you would like to contribute to ensure 600 students are working towards developing their reading skills. . GUMPS farooqianagar consists of 600 students from low income group. The aim is to increase reading skills among students and improve their comprehension skills which would in turn increase their interest towards education and to include books of 3 languages to ensure kids develop reading skills in all.The importance will be on making English comprehension a strength. We wish to build a learning environment overall in our school
Our work and its impact
GUMPS Farooqia Nagar was set up in 1960 as a government school located in Farooqia Nagar, Padarayanapura. Our school has 600 students with 12 governement teachers, 4 Teach for India Fellows and 4 private teachers. The school is Urdu medium but we believe in providing the best of knowledge in English and Kannada as well.
How we will utilise these books
The students of our school have little access to any resources that would help in learning comprehension skills or build interest towards reading. A conducive library environment would help us provide them the basic resources for the same. We are a school who wish to provided the best education to our students. By the end of August , we wish to have 2 library kits which would enable us to have library hours, shared reading and read aloud as a major activity in our school in turn impacting better learning outcomes.
