Our work and its impact

Kaliyuva Mane is catering to the educational and emotional needs of the children in a child-centric approach. The mainstream education system works on the assumption that all children are like machines who can learn a predetermined textual content in a predetermined time interval and in a predetermined way. But due to lack of a conducive learning environment at school and home, a turbulent childhood, or general ignorance towards a child’s varied emotions, abilities, and interests, many children are deprived of an opportunity to learn.
Child laborers, school dropouts, children from rural BPL families, those with turbulent childhood or special needs are further marginalized and form the out-of-system children. These children have an academic lag and therefore need assistance to catch up with their peers in the mainstream school system. So at Kaliyuva Mane, we follow child-centric practices such as:

a) admissions year-round,
b) abolition of the grading system and flexible teams,
c) Congenial environment,
d) Individualistic curriculum,
e) Prioritizing regular, informal, formative assessments over mainstream exams that test child's memory than their understanding,
f) Life-skill training,
g) Using the campus as a learning tool, etc.
