Who we are
We are two Teach For India fellows who have the exceptional privilege of working with 85 bright, young minds in a public school in Sion. We believe they have what it takes to be strong leaders with powerful voices, but they need a lot of more exposure to the world around- and what better way to do that than through books? Do help us on our mission towards empowering our kids to change their story, after all, they are the future of our world!
Our work and its impact
We are two Teach for India fellows who are working in public school in Sion. I. Krishi Saraogi, have recently graduated from Sophia College with a BA in Economics. I am passionate about empowering kids to reach their potential by enabling them read and understand the world around them better. I want all my kids to be able to apply their knowledge to the real world and approach everyone with respect. I, Shivani Patekar, have recently graduated from St Xaviers College with a BA in Sociology. All through my college life, I have taken part in various extra curricular activities which yielded my passion towards theatre. I aim to empower my kids towards being empathetic individuals who believe in their power to rewrite their own story.
How we will utilise these books
We are pursuing our fellowship with Teach for India and are placed in a government school in Sion. We are committed to providing an excellent education to 85 students from low income communities around Wadala and Antop Hill. We aim for our kids to be academically successful but also have a strong value based education. We teach them the importance of respect, taking ownership of their learning, solving problems they see in their community and understanding their own potential better. The funds will be used to build a class library with levelled books that can be accessed by our strongest as well as our struggling readers.
