How we will utilise these books

RREA’s mission is to develop reading habit among children by providing them opportunity and access to joyful reading content. Through our Book club initiative, we intend to also address the issue of low learning levels in children. Children in the border schools do not have access to story books which hampers their basic reading and writing competencies. Most of the children are the first generation learners and education is their family’s chance to break the circle of poverty and create a meaningful learning environment for the whole community which is still affected by insurgency and conflicts. Till date, RREA through its fellowship program and other education based initiatives have impacted the lives of more than 1000 children in the Kamjong district of Manipur. Our fellowship enabled school children with an opportunity to have Maths and Science classes which due to lack of teachers was missing before. RREA aims to set-up 10 portable libraries in the 10 community schools in the Kamjong district of Manipur and gradually expand its Reading program to other districts by similar book donation drives. With these books, RREA also aim to organize Book development sessions where children and teachers would be engaged to translate English books in their own tribal language.
