Who we are
We are setting up libraries in 278 primary and secondary Schools in rural Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. Selected schools are located in Duddhi block, which is less developed region in Sonbhadra. Schools does not have separate libraries and hence children do not have access to read non-academics books which they really like to read. Books published by Pratham Books are more engaging and colorful books which instills a love of reading and help to improves reading skills. We believe that books are the real friend of a child.
Our work and its impact
I'm a Gandhi Fellow working with block stakeholders. belongs to Pitamal Foundation and KEF. Kaivalya Education Foundation(KEF) was established in 2008 with the aim to transform the quality of education in Govt. schools. We, Gandhi fellows are a part of Kaivalya Education Foundation, work in district level with the middle management (CRC, BRC, BRP) of the Department of education in improving the quality of education in the schools.
How we will utilise these books
I'm a Gandhi fellow supporting our proactive government stakeholders – BRC - Kanchan Neeraj ji Santosh ji and Shailesh ji along with our CRC - Akhilesh ji, Mushairam ji, Salim ullah ji, and Sailesh ji working with more than 250 rural and tribal schools of Sonbhadra district respectively where children do not have access to child-centric books or a creative space where they can improve and nurture their skills. We wish to set up child-friendly libraries focusing on reading, writing and speaking with trilingual fluency - Hindi, and English. Also, preparing the children with 21st-century skills through a designed curriculum in schools. We aimed to setup libraries in all schools of Duddhi block. We planned to give 20+ books to each schools. This responsibility is given to all 8 NPRCs. and ABRCs will assure the library creation in each school of the block. I as a gandhi fellow will help to plan distribution and to collect books via donation.
