Who we are
Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light. –Vera Nazarian That is what we intend to make it happen for each of our child.The Library-in-a-classrooms will help us to make it happen for our children.Each child should have access to great books. Books that will inspire, motivate and allow them to move beyond to a new world of possibility . Your contribution will allow us to give the best to our children.We currently have 4 classrooms, with 30-40 students in each class.These books will be their guiding lights.
Our work and its impact
Touching Lives is a Non Profit organization in Mumbai, India that provides healing and learning opportunities to children living in slums.We have 1 Learning Center and 3 Community Centers.We are team of 16 committed , passionate individuals and around 30 Volunteers. We have more than 200 children on this learning journey with us
How we will utilise these books
We have set up quality resource centres (termed as Learning Centre &Community Centre) that allow children to recover, discover and do what they realize for themselves and for the world. The trained mentors (teachers) use therapeutic learning methods for the overall development of children. This involves integrating mental health, education and developing conscious parent-child relationship. The funds collected will help us set up 2 small library in our learning centers for children living in slums. Students can thus take the books at home to read and explore.The dream to make each student an independent learner can thus find a way out through the books in these kits.
