Who we are
The project intends towards fulfilling the need of 5 government primary schools related to library. The immediate need of children with higher percentage lacking in class appropriate skills is to start making them interact with picture books, learning board games, craft activities, visualization of books through classroom corner library and comfortable sitting. The need of child having class appropriate skills is to promote critical thinking skills and to enhance creativity and social development. Your support is key in ensuring effective learning environment and will impact more than 1000 needy students.
Our work and its impact
Gandhi fellows are supporting Government schools with innovative ideas, building capacity of head masters and teachers through imparting leadership skills, analyzing needs-child specific as well as of whole school. In order to fulfill those needs we strongly need your support.
How we will utilise these books
With 30% results in skill assessments, the fact is that the higher percentage of children are not having class appropriate basic skills and there is no denial in the fact that a fifth grade child is a ‘non-reader’. Confined to the course syllabus and limited resources to get activity based learning, the endeavors of the child is hidden in government schools. Use of picture books, class room book display, amenities for group learning and other related resource unavailability is undoubtedly suppressing the capabilities of the child. Absence of these results, there is increase in dropout rates and adding to that, a psychological harm to the child. The motivation behind continuing schooling is lacking plus going to the school is becoming burden for the students. Purchasing library resources for 5 govt. schools of Sohna block (Gurugram, Haryana, in the first phase of my library campaign. so that it can develop much needed skills of students and required competencies of teachers.
