Who we are
We work at Teach for India as fellows and we teach grade 5 and 6 in a government school at Whitefield. The school has 600 students and As a part of creating a strong vocabulary base them, we had set up a library. The library requires more age appropriate Pratham books for all the students to get benefited from it.
Our work and its impact
We Nithasha, Roshni, Pragati and Pranav, are all Teach for India fellows. We are all engineers by chance and teachers by choice, fighting everyday to do our bit in ending educational inequity in India.
How we will utilise these books
Our children find it very difficult to read simple English words and it's so heart wrenching to see them in such a situation. We at Teach for India, believe that with the right support, they too are no less than kids studying at privileged schools. Reading is the best way of learning any language in depth. We provide them with books and help them read it. Also we want our students to take reading as a habit so that they develop a strong personality and can handle themselves in any group. These funds will be used to purchase more books for the library and in setting up libraries in the remaining class rooms. Thus providing our children the resources to widen their knowledge in the language.
