Know more about us

Who we are

Our model is a supportive after school model that is set up in the heart of the slum. It aims at improving the levels of learning among children by providing everyday content rich classes. The classes are run six days a week focussing on English, Mathematics and holistic skill development. Weekends are devoted to creative art, dancing, drawing, games and sports. The classes also lay special focus on behavioural improvement, etiquette and manners and improving hygiene habits. We are raising funds to set up eight libraries in our Study Centres.

Our work and its impact

As Indians we come face to face with the reality of abject poverty. It is wrenching to see young children picking up rags from filthy trash to feed themselves. What started in 2013 as a weekend class for six to eight children from slums grew in three and a half years to teaching more than 500 children. The average age of our team is 27. Most of us work without remuneration and dream of a day when each of us will be able to work for Sarthak in a full time capacity. Our team comprises of Corporate Professionals, Engineers, Professors and College Graduates. We focus on providing quality education to children who are deprived of it due to situational constraints.

Learning through such books is a lot of fun and it really helps in shaping up young minds in he right direction. It helps children become more sensitive to their environment, become more compassionate towards each other and they start looking for the right things in life. We wish to change the lives of our target population by educating the children, who in the long run will become employable and help their families come out of poverty and slums. We need to ensure that children enjoy their right to live as normal human beings in the society, to be educated and to be able to earn two square meals with their heads held high. We want to see a more educated society providing equal rights to all the human beings specially children of the society. We want children to experience childhood.
