Who we are
Kulamua village in rural Assam had no school until now. Bipin Dhane, along with a few determined villagers, has set up the first ever school there. They built the school with thatched walls from scratch. They sourced uniforms from a helpful NGO. Though the children have begun their education and have access to a meagre collection of books, they need a LOT more. Hence, this campaign to raise books for these children who are eager to learn and are full of dreams and hopes.
Our work and its impact
I am running this campaign on behalf of Hummingbird School, in Kulamua, Assam. This is the first ever school set up in the village. The mission of Hummingbird School is to enable free/low-cost access to education to the children in this remote village. Most of the children are so underprivileged that the school takes them in for free.
How we will utilise these books
Nelson Mandela has famously said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world". No one must be denied an education simply because they do not have the means to afford it. The mission of Hummingbird School is to enable free/low-cost access to education to children in remote villages such as Kulamua. Most of the children are so underprivileged that the school takes them in for free. The funds will be utilized to procure English and other language books for the children studying at Humming bird School, which in turn will help nurture their knowledge, creativity, and imagination.
