Who we are
Nirmala Vidyalaya, is a school run by the ACTS Group of Institutions, for children from low income and underprivileged backgrounds. The school is 15 years old and has approximately 180 children. The school ran as a daycare centre/creche for many years and is now in the growing stages, responding to the need for a school in the area. The school currently goes up to Std. 2. The school is a very happy place which aims at giving these children quality education and preparing them for life.
Our work and its impact
The ACTS Group of Institutions was established in 1979 to train and empower underprivileged youth and children. It is based out of Bangalore and has branches in Delhi, Kacchawa, Kolkata, Shillong and Siliguri. In all we have 3 high schools, 2 growing schools and 3 preschools.
How we will utilise these books
We essentially focus on the holistic development of a child. We believe that academics along with sports, arts, music and an appreciation for the environment are integral parts of education. The safety and well being of every child is a priority in our schools. We invest in the interests of the children and aim to provide them with all they need to ‘learn to live’. Library books will be bought with these funds. The school currently does not have a library and we are in the process of setting up one.
