Who we are
ACTS Group of Institutions was started in 1979 by Dr Ken Gnanakan in Banaglore. Our vision is to create a community of people learning to live. Through projects in the field of education, entrepreneurship and environment, ACTS has been trying to fulfil this vision We currently have 12 schools in semi urban areas across India which caters to children from low income backgrounds. Our children are in the age group of 2 to 18 years. Our schools are in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kachhawa (UP) and Kalyani (West Bengal).
Our work and its impact
ACTS Group of Institutions have 12 schools across India which caters to children from low income backgrounds. Our children are in the age group of 4 to 18 years. Our schools are in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kachhawa (UP) and Kalyani (West Bengal). Our vision is to create a community of people learning to live. We believe that reading books is an integral part of this vision. So, we require books for our classroom libraries for we want our children to read in their preferred language and at their reading level. Help them become readers for life.
How we will utilise these books
ACTS gives affordable quality education to children who otherwise would not even get a chance to go to schools. Children from low income families, children’s home and orphanages in urban and semi-urban area whom we work with don’t have access to story books. These libraries serve over 4700 children in the age group of 4 to 18. Almost all our children are first generation learners and education is theirs and their family’s chance to break the circle of poverty. ACTS aims to set up 25 libraries by the end of this academic year in our 12 schools. The collected funds will be utilized for buying books for children in English, Hindi and Kannada.
