How we will utilise these books

At Reading Space, we work towards making an eclectic collection of contemporary books accessible to children in the town. We collaborate with schools in the community to organize literary programs – book fairs, author, storyteller or artist interactions – to provide an enriching experience to children and inspire them to read more. We believe an active early reading intervention can foster reading in children. And towards the end, we conduct weekly reading sessions in a school here where we read stories to younger children. We also make our small collection of books accessible to older children to enable them to borrow and read regularly. The success of our first campaign in Donate-A-Book enabled us to procure a set of books each to children of Grade 3. Now, this facilitates us to read collectively, discuss the story and have a more interactive session. We saw an active participation among the children and we wish to spread this joy to more children. We will use the funds raised to get more colourful books for younger kids who are beginning to read, and a library kit for older children to borrow and read books based on their reading levels.
