Who we are
We are a class of 36 second and third grade students students in a low income community school in Ahmadabad .We require Books for setting up a school library with books of different reading levels and in English language. Help us become readers for life.
Our work and its impact
I'm Vishakha Tiwari, a 2015 Teach For India fellow currently teaching a class of 3rd grade girls at a low income community school in Ahmadabad. We at Teach For India, believe that one day all children in India will attain an excellent education regardless of the demographics and work relentlessly towards achieving our goal.
How we will utilise these books
Teach For India, a project of Teach To Lead, is a nationwide movement of outstanding college graduates and young professionals who will commit two-years to teach full-time in under resourced schools and who will become lifelong leaders working from within various sectors towards the pursuit of equity in education. Today, Teach For India is in 7 cities - Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. We have a total of approximately 1200 Fellows and 1100 Alumni working towards eliminating educational inequity We teach children in classes 2nd through 8th standard. There are 27920 children in our classrooms at the start of 2014-15. We aim to setup a Class library which later will be transformed into a school library for the primary section (Grade 1 to 5). This will help create a habit of reading among students with exposing them to a variety of content. Academically , it will help them improve their reading levels.
