Who we are
Ours is a Hindi-medium government-aided free primary school in Kolkata. We need books to expand our library. It will help us to acquire more number of books and cater the needs and interests of our students. We need books in Hindi and English languages.
Our work and its impact
Our school was established in 1954. It is a Government-aided free primary school. There are 336 students of age group of 05-10 years old. There are classes of nursery to class IV in our school. There are total 16 teachers in our school.
How we will utilise these books
Students of our school come from underprivileged sections of society. Most of them are first generation learners. They lack opportunity to develop reading habit and enjoy the vast source of knowledge and enjoyment beyond textbooks. To address this issue we teachers, with our own efforts, built a school library with book donations from a NGO. At present there are about 120 books in our library. We intend to expand our library and procure more books on different topics like children literature, science, general knowledge etc. to provide our students to experience a wider spectrum of knowledge. This will facilitate spread of knowledge in backward sections of society to which these students belong. The collected fund will be utilized in buying books in Hindi and English languages to expand the school library.
