Its key programs include the Aram Scholarship for deserving students, Kaathadi – a creative learning initiative in Kalrayan Hills, the Hunger Project to ensure nutritious meals for children, the Aalampannai Sustainable Livelihood Centre, and mental health initiatives under the “All Is Well” program. The foundation also supports sustainable rural development through the Sundaridevi Memorial Project and Kalvarayan Community Development initiatives.

Our work and its impact

At Aram Porul Foundation, our work is deeply rooted in empowering tribal communities in the Kalrayan Hills of Tamil Nadu. We focus on improving access to education, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods for children and families in these remote regions. Many tribal students face challenges such as long travel distances to schools, lack of proper infrastructure, and limited access to learning materials. Through initiatives like Project Kaathadi, we conduct integrated arts, science, and nature-based learning camps to spark curiosity and creativity among students.

We also run the Hunger Project, providing nutritious meals to school children, ensuring they stay healthy and motivated to learn. Our livelihood programs support tribal women and families through sustainable skill development and income-generating opportunities. Additionally, we work on improving school infrastructure, offering scholarships, and facilitating transportation for students from remote hamlets.

How we will utilise these books

The storybooks will be used to set up a community library for school children in the Kalrayan Hills, where access to learning resources is very limited. This library will serve as a safe and inspiring learning space for children from nearby tribal villages to read and explore.

The collection will include storybooks suited to different age groups, encouraging reading habits and improving language and comprehension skills. Teachers will also use the books to conduct reading sessions, storytelling activities, and group learning exercises that make education more engaging and interactive.

By making books accessible within their own community, the library will help bridge the learning gap faced by tribal students, foster creativity and curiosity, and nurture a lifelong love for reading. Ultimately, this small library will become a gateway to learning and imagination, empowering children in the hills to dream bigger and aim higher.
