Who we are
Bookwallah brings the healing power of stories to vulnerable children, transforming trauma into hope and helping them imagine new possibilities for their future. We make this possible by creating vibrant libraries; our Imagination Havens inside shelter homes, child care institutions, and special schools. We conduct value-based story sessions that foster empathy, resilience, and joy. These safe spaces give every child the opportunity to heal, learn, and dream.
Our work and its impact
We build libraries and run story-based programs in children’s homes, orphanages, and special schools, offering vulnerable children a safe space to heal, dream, and grow.
Every week, our trained volunteers bring stories to life through interactive reading, guided discussions, and creative activities. These sessions help children build empathy, resilience, and hope for the future. Alongside our story-based program, our Giving Tree Program delivers Happiness Parcels and Magic Crates, filled with storybooks and activity kits to shelter homes, hospitals, and community hubs, ensuring that children beyond our direct programs can still experience the joy of reading.
Many children in our programs have shown significant improvement in hope scores, reflecting enhanced socio-emotional well-being and a more positive outlook on life. For a child who has faced loss, neglect, or abuse, a story can do more than spark imagination — it can ignite the courage to dream again. One story at a time, we are not just changing individual lives, but shaping the compassionate leaders of tomorrow.
How we will utilise these books
The storybooks raised through this fundraiser will be the heart of our weekly story-based programs, reaching around 230 children across partner children’s homes in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Through guided storytelling, interactive reading, and creative activities, these books will help children not only read but also imagine, dream, and grow. As they explore characters and stories, they build empathy, develop resilience, and make measurable progress in their socio-emotional well-being.
These books will not just be read — they will be lived, becoming tools for healing, growth, and empowerment for the children in need.
