Who we are
Udaykal Foundation is a social institution dedicated to addressing societal challenges through various initiatives. Established in 2015 by Mr. Balkrishna Bagul in Amalner, Maharashtra, the foundation has been actively working under the guiding principle of "Timirakaduna Tejakade".
Our mission is to reduce social inequalities and promote sustainable development across education, health, environment, and livelihood sectors. Over the past four years, we have implemented numerous social programs to uplift marginalized communities. Our organization is currently focused to expand its impact across Maharashtra.
As part of our commitment to rural development, we have adopted the village of Devgaon Deoli, where we implement various community-driven projects. We also seek support from individuals and corporate organizations to scale our efforts and create meaningful change.
Our work and its impact
We have established a community center in Kesnand called "The Liberty Public School", where we provide foundational literacy and numeracy to children from underprivileged backgrounds. Currently, 30 children attend our classes daily, where we emphasize 21st-century skills through innovative teaching methods.
We address the critical lack of educational resources in rural areas by creating opportunities for children to access quality learning materials and cultivate a lifelong love for reading. Libraries have become a cornerstone of our efforts, enabling children to enhance their creativity, critical thinking, and knowledge through storytelling, art, and reading activities.
Through our past campaigns with the support of Pratham Books and Donate-a-Book platform, we were able to set up libraries in Haryana villages and witnessed transformative results as libraries were instrumental in instilling good habits of reading, communicating, confidence, curiosity, and imagination among hundreds of children, empowering them to dream big and work toward a better future.
How we will utilise these books
We aim to set up 25 libraries across Pune District to ignite creativity. These classroom libraries will go beyond reading, hosting activities that enhance creativity and critical thinking.
Storytelling and Engagement:
- Mentors will lead interactive storytelling. Art and narration contests will motivate children to participate and showcase their talents.
- Story-sharing circles will allow children to express ideas and opinions, improving communication and critical thinking.
