Who we are

Rani from Nari village is one of the five offsprings of day labourers. Being the eldest she too has to help them in the brick kiln. Life is difficult & hope is a distant word for Rani. Her village is located in Jhansi, part of the Bundelkhand region. One of the most backward regions in the country, it has harsh topography and frequent droughts and ingrained feudalism make agriculture difficult. Population here comprises of mainly tribals- Saharias and Gonds, with whom Paras works. Education being the fundamental tool for empowerment we want your support to give Rani a choice.

Our work and its impact

PARAS India is a national level NGO, currently working in four states, UP,MP, Chattisgarh and New Delhi. We are focused on the holistic transformation of the communities that we are working with. Mostly these are marginalised communities at the bottom of the social hierarchy. In Bundelkhand an d Chattisgarh we are working with the tribals and in Delhi with the Slums.

How we will utilise these books

Our areas of intervention include, education, livelihood, health, awareness and disaster preparedness. We run our centre in the middle of the communities and the overall idea is to make them self-sufficient. This requires a bottom up approach and we have been able to impact 1,91,950 through our efforts over the last eight years. We work through Paras Centres, which become an intrinsic part of the community, with people themselves taking ownership and responsibility of it, it our way of making these communities, self reliant. Each centre has a small library, which is managed by the student committee. The funds will be helpful to bring in new books for these children, so that they may learn an continue to excel.
