Who we are
Katakhali Swapnopuron Welfare Society (KSWS) is dedicated to improving the quality of education for children in the Sundarbans region.
Mission Statement:
The mission of KSWS is to empower children through holistic and quality education, while fostering a safe and just community by building knowledge and sustainable livelihoods.
Vision:
KSWS envisions a safe, empowered community where every child has equal opportunities to reach their full potential.
Core Beliefs:
The organisation’s work is guided by three foundational pillars:
- Curriculum: Early childhood education is vital for establishing a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
- Community Engagement: Parents and families are recognized as primary educators, actively involved in their children's education.
- Teachers: The critical role of teachers is acknowledged in implementing the curriculum and supporting children's developmental milestones.
Our work and its impact
By enhancing teaching methods, providing interactive learning materials, and ensuring equal access to education, KSWS makes a lasting impact. Special emphasis is placed on increasing girls’ participation in STEM education and supporting marginalised children, including those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities. Regular training workshops for teachers are conducted to ensure high-quality instruction.
The work of KSWS has far-reaching impacts. Improved educational standards better equip children for future success, and by promoting gender equality, KSWS encourages boys and girls alike to pursue higher education and careers in STEM fields. By supporting marginalised children, the organisation reduces educational disparities. Their holistic approach fosters not only academic growth but also emotional and health development. KSWS also tackles cultural taboos, such as menstruation, to help create a more informed, confident generation. Overall, these efforts promote inclusive, sustainable development, ensuring that every child in the Sundarbans has the opportunity to thrive.
