Who we are
Bhumi, one of India's largest volunteer organisations, provides comprehensive educational support for over 25,000 underprivileged children across India to help them become better citizens. Bhumi as a platform enables over 33,000 volunteers to contribute to causes like education, environment, animal and community welfare.
Our work and its impact
Bhumi has two core areas of work - Education and Civic Projects. > Ignite: Transformational Education - Bhumi provides comprehensive educational support for over 25,000 underprivileged children. We bridge the gaps in formal education and opportunities by providing language and STEAM-based education, life-skills support and scholarships for higher education at orphanages, low-income (private and government) schools with development support for teachers, and education at after-school community centres in urban slums. > Catalyse: Transforming Citizenry- Bhumi provides a platform for volunteers to take up causes linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. There are one-off and regular volunteering activities toward animal welfare, road safety, disability, environment, health etc.
How we will utilise these books
Daan Utsav or, the Joy of Giving Week is celebrated every year in India from October 2nd to 8th and is India’s biggest festival of giving during which people from all over the country join hands to perform acts of kindness. This Daan Utsav, we’re raising funds to share the joy of reading with the children we work with. With a focus on foundational literacy and numeracy, the Bhumi Fellowship aims to use these books to build reading fluency, comprehension, and most importantly, the habit of reading for joy.
