Who we are
Community Human Empowerment Service for Society (CHESS) is a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Chitradurga District, Karnataka. CHESS is committed to advancing rural education for children in need and conducting Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities across the districts of Hassan, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, and Davangere in Karnataka. Our mission is to bridge educational gaps and foster community growth through impactful initiatives and programs.
Our work and its impact
CHESS operates across multiple sectors in Karnataka, addressing the needs of agriculture, education, health and sanitation, skill development, and water conservation. Currently, we are focusing on a pilot project in Hassan, Chitradurga, and Davangere districts to support underprivileged children in both rural and urban areas. As part of this project, we have launched the 'Save Government Schools' campaign, aimed at enhancing the quality of education and resources available to these communities.
In the education sector, CHESS organises extracurricular activities for children in need and mobilises resources through individual donations to provide educational materials. In collaboration with Pratham Books, we set up libraries in underserved schools and institutions, giving children access to high-quality reading materials that are otherwise hard to come by in these areas.
How we will utilise these books
The funds raised from this campaign will be dedicated to stocking the library in Salagame Hassan district with storybooks from Pratham Books, specifically focusing on multilingual STEM books. These storybooks will benefit nearly 100 children from evening schools in the area, offering them an enriching learning experience and opening a window to a world of knowledge and imagination. The books will be used during library hours and will also be available for reading sessions, providing continuous learning support for the children.
