Who we are
Project Gilahri is an initiative started by two friends - Himanshi and Prayanshu. Himanshi is a 22-year-old from Rajasthan who’s passionate about enabling rural communities to become self-reliant with the gift of education and Prayanshu, a 24-year-old from Madhya Pradesh, who’s interested in organic farming and is keen on figuring out how agroecology and social entrepreneurship can help create a self-reliant village. The project was started in January 2023 in Bhagalpura, a small village in Bihar.
Our work and its impact
The work we do revolves around understanding the conditions and needs of a community that has very limited access to resources. We want to create learning tools and methods which can cater to specific and contextual needs instead of following a general structure.
The three key points of our work are:
Building a community-led education model that focuses on nature
Creating skill development programmes to lead sustainable livelihoods
Adopting a problem-solving approach to the climate crisis at a smaller level
How we will utilise these books
The funds from our campaign will be used to get English and Hindi Pratham Books storybooks for the village of Bhagalpura. The books will be the part of village community library which every child can visit to enrich their lives with beautiful stories. We also use storytelling as a medium of teaching. We will help children create their own stories using their surroundings and the books received from this campaign for inspiration.
