Who we are

Donyi Polo Cultural and Charitable Trust is an NGO dedicated to safeguarding the fading indigenous culture of Arunachal Pradesh as the state advances towards the future. Recognizing the vital importance of preserving cultural heritage, the trust, based in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, has been working tirelessly to protect and promote the rich traditions and cultural legacy of the region.

Our work and its impact

To preserve the fading indigenous culture, we have established four Gurukul-style schools that provide both formal NCERT education and an indigenous curriculum to students from various tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh, including Nyishi, Adi, and Galo. By integrating this indigenous curriculum, we ensure that students remain connected to their roots, regardless of where their future takes them. This approach not only helps keep their heritage alive but also rebuilds the bridge of communication between generations, allowing the older generation to pass down their knowledge and traditions to the younger ones. In this way, we are committed to ensuring that the culture is never lost.

How we will utilise these books

The books acquired through this platform will greatly benefit the 145 students of our remote Gurukul, Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko Rang, in East Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh. These books will be used to create classroom libraries, enriching students' minds during free periods and fostering a love for reading. Access to resources is vital in remote areas where educational materials are scarce. This initiative will enhance the educational experience of children in rural and tribal areas, cultivating a reading culture and inspiring a new generation of readers who value education.

The books, available in English and Hindi, will be particularly valuable for our students in Papu Nalah, where access to diverse reading materials is limited. By providing these resources, we aim to broaden their horizons, improve language skills, and support their overall academic development.
