Know more about us
Who we are
Asha Trust has been dedicated to catalysing socio-economic change for the underprivileged through education. Our primary objective is to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged children in India. We also collaborate with individuals and organisations engaged in similar initiatives. In addition to education, we address issues such as healthcare, environmental sustainability, socio-economic development, and women’s rights.
Our work and its impact
We focus on the education of marginalised communities, with a particular emphasis on empowering women and initiating dialogues on critical social issues.
We provide education to children of brick kiln workers and operate mobile libraries that serve government schools and evening community schools. Our e-library initiative benefits around 45 girls who regularly use this facility, and we offer scholarships to students in need. Additionally, we run a variety of programs including constitution awareness, workshops on safe and unsafe touch, dialogues on topics such as education, health, safety, and respect, as well as the formation of self-reliant groups and social education centres.
We run a variety of programs including:
- -Constitution awareness
- -Workshops on safe and unsafe touch
- -Dialogues with young girls on topics such as education, health, safety, and respect
- -Formation of self-reliant groups
- -Social education centres
These programs annually reach 12,000 children from classes 8-12 across 60-70 schools and 2,000 children from classes 3-5 in 8-10 schools. Additionally, they impact the lives of 800 young women every year by providing academic support, mentorship, exposure, guidance, and interactive platforms.
How we will utilise these books
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to procure storybooks from Pratham Books, which will be utilised as follows:
- Establishing libraries in remote locations for girl students under the "Joy of Reading" campaign.
- Replenishing mobile libraries, which conduct library classes in remote government schools and informal evening community schools.
- Supporting our broader initiatives, including constitution awareness workshops, safe/unsafe touch workshops, dialogues on various social issues in schools, and the formation of self-reliant groups and social education centres.
