Know more about us

Who we are

We have started a community Library in Eastern Himalayan Village of Shergaon in Arunachal Pradesh, in the heart of Sherdukpen tribal belt. Through this, children of the village will have access to quality books other than textbooks. The library which benefits 1000+ children, needs more books to keep the interest of young minds and also to enable them to explore the world through quality books.

Our work and its impact

Our organisation is based in a beautiful valley of Shergaon, West Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh. Coming together of young like minded tribal people from various fields and with vision to work for sustainable village development gave birth to this organisation. Our area of work touches every aspect of rural life like Education, Health, Art and Culture, Eco tourism and Bio diversity conservation etc. We believe that progress in every field of work can only be connected through proper education. Based on the domain expertise of each, members take long term and short term projects.

How we will utilise these books

We carry out long term projects on education, wildlife conservation and tribal art and culture. Every work we do is based on community participation. We are thankful to village elders and women folks of the village for their continued support in carrying out our works. Currently we run and maintain following:- 1. Community Library for Tribal Children 2. Sherdukpen Traditional home museum (heritage home-this preserves magnificent wooden stone/ house of Sherdukpen tribe) 3. Adopted a river stretch for Trout fish ranching, monitors and carrying out research on trout in wild. 4. Encourage tribal children to learn folk dances like Azu Lampu, Yak/ Bird/ Deer. Mask Dances, tribe 5. Health awareness campaign 6. Work closely with women on weaving and marketing of tribal bags, scarfs etc. Being in remote area in the eastern Himalayas, getting quality books is very difficult. The fund will be used solely for books for children's library and if possible teaching and learning materials (TLM) for pre school kids. The contribution will immensely help tribal children to hone their skills and be competitive in today's world. There is no teacher greater than books and no skill is greater than able to read.
