Under the “Wake-up Ludhiana” initiative, the District Administration Ludhiana, in partnership with the EcoSikh Charitable Society, proudly presents a project to transform a library in Rose Garden, Ludhiana, into a vibrant centre for reading and learning. Conceptualised by Smt. Sakshi Sawhney, IAS, District Collector Ludhiana and supported by the CII Ludhiana Chapter, the Department of Libraries, and the Department of Education, this initiative, aims to create a modern hub where the entire community can discover the joy of reading.

In an era where digital distractions abound, nurturing a love for reading is crucial. The “Wake-up Ludhiana” project will provide access to a wide range of multilingual books, including digital and audio formats, ensuring that everyone—from young children to adults—can find something to inspire them. This library will also serve as a community space for storytelling sessions, reading clubs, and literary events, making it a true cultural and educational hub.

The key objectives of this initiative are:

– Enhance Literacy: Provide a diverse collection of storybooks from Pratham Books to cultivate a love for reading.

– Revitalise Infrastructure: Renovate and repurpose an existing library to maximise community resources.

– Promote Digital Literacy: Incorporate digital and audio books, along with modern equipment, to engage readers in new ways.

– Create a Community Hub: Foster a space for cultural and educational activities that bring people together.
