Who we areSarthak Foundation was established in 2013 to improve the lives of underprivileged children through the gift of education. We started with very few resources to change the lives of six children and have grown to impact thousands. Our vision is to see Happy Empowered children, by providing Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) with free education and skill development.
Our work and its impactOur work with children, between 3 to 18 years of age, in both rural and urban communities, has led to a marked reduction in the percentage of school dropouts, especially among girls, and increased enrollment. In urban areas, we focus on imparting education that emphasises inclusivity, whereas in rural areas our focus lies in democratising education. We also help children maintain their mental and physical health, develop professional skills, and become aware of social issues.
How we will utilise these booksYellow Rooms are permanent transformational centres that we set up in the heart of SEDG communities to provide free education and aid the physical and mental well-being of the children. The rooms are painted yellow to symbolise happiness and hope.
As a part of their curriculum, we hold book reading/storytelling sessions every day of the week to develop their language skills and encourage creativity and imagination. We want to set up a library in every Yellow Room so that children can have direct access to the world of storybooks. The funds from this campaign will be used to procure delightful multilingual storybooks from Pratham Books for the Yellow Room libraries and bring joy to more than 1800 children.
