Our story

HELLO, Didi's and Bhaiya's, We are the students from Sardar Patel community. In our community, there is a government school named Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel school. We want to set up a library in the school so students of our school and community can utilize it. WHY: We need books to read and bring exposure to our life. We also want to increase our fluency, vocabulary, sentence construction, comprehending skill and reading skill. The community doesn't have any reading spaces and we would love to create. HOPE FOR THE BEST! Thank you in advance:)

Who we are

Hello Ma'am/Sir, I am Rajesh Goswami. I am from Surat and completed my graduation in civil engineering. I work in Teach For India as a fellow. I have completed my 1 year of fellowship. This fellowship brings me a sense of the impact of an excellent education. By this fellowship, I get the ground scenario of education in the school. Thus I want my students to be independent readers.

Our work and its impact

I teach in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Shala Sankul, which is a government school and located in Sardar Patel community. I teach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The community is underserved and the people of the community do not have access to high-quality reading material. Thus students are lagging behind in their reading skills. So with the help of students, I want to build the library in the school which will be reading space for all. Impact on society: by reading books students will get knowledge part and practical skills which will help them to nurture themselves and their community. Students will learn how to read different books and once they start loving reading they will become independent readers.

How we will utilize these funds

The students will run the library with the help of school teachers. The books will be kept at the library; if anyone wants to read them, they can easily access the library.
