Our story

Swatantra Talim, a non-profit organization is conducting SwaKhoj Awards for igniting children's creativity, logical and innovative thinking. These awards are for children from rural or low income backgrounds upto grade X or 16 years of age. The children will send entries to us and around 100 children will be called for a 2 day workshop cum award ceremony on 4-5 August at CSIR-IITR auditorium in Lucknow. All these 100 children will be given a pack of 4 books so as to enable them to think innovatively in the future as well.

Who we are

Rahul Aggarwal and Ridhi Aggarwal, co-founders of Swatantra Talim have initiated this journey five years back. Rahul is a qualified Chartered Accountant and an SRCC alumnus having 10+ years of corporate experience in Airtel and PepsiCo. Ridhi Aggarwal, his wife is a post graduate in commerce and education from Delhi School of Economics, DU and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. She is also an alumnus of Lady Shri Ram College, DU. She had worked for Times of India, Edelweiss Securities. Both of them quit their well paid corporate jobs to venture in the education sector for the rural/low income children for which initially they both taught at Sahyadri School (Krishnamurthi Foundation). After teaching for a year, they both started Swatantra Talim in the year 2013.

Our work and its impact

We both are working on alternate education in the rural parts of Uttar Pradesh. The intent is to co-create every village as a center of innovation and every child as an innovator facilitating social change. We work with children between 6 to 14 years of age and the idea is how we can help children build creativity, logical thinking, critical thinking, innovative thinking and questioning skills. In these areas we have built a model wherein we establish a close connection between education to grass-root innovation so that many more parents who were earlier disillusioned with education system have their trust on education.

How we will utilize these funds

We are organizing state level SwaKhoj Awards in which entries will come from rural/low income children across the UP state. We have tied up with UP State Education Department to help us in this. Around 100 children will be called for a 2 day workshop cum award ceremony and we are thinking of giving them a pack of 4 books.
