Makkala Jagriti is a not for profit organisation working on the Holistic development of marginalised children by setting up learning centers in government schools, urban slums and children's homes. We require exciting story books for our learning centers . Our Library programme allows children to pick books based on their reading level (GROW BY READING model) and we are looking for books in Kannada and English for our schools and in Hindi for the state home for children.
Makkala Jagriti is an NGO set up in 2003 , working with socio-economically marginalised , empowering them towards a bright future. We work with children (3-6 yrs) , children (6-14 yrs) , youth, parents and teachers through our learning centers in government schools and slums and youth centers. We also work with Anganwadis and children's homes.
Makkala Jagriti's vision is to empower the child and its community towards a bright future. We do this using a Holistic model of development for children and youth. We focus on the Socio-emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development of children. Through our interventions , children become more confident, more creative , able discover their own potential and ultimately become role models and change agents in the society.
These funds will be utilized towards books in the library for 7 schools, 2 community centers and also 2 children's homes. These children are hardly exposed to good books in their school- school libraries mostly stock biographies and history books, general knowledge books etc which doesn't make reading exciting for the children. Hence we are aiming to stock the libraries with simple and exciting books from Pratham.
