We wish to start 6 libraries in 6 of the learning centres we run.
We have been teaching underprivileged children in Delhi and Gurgaon since April 2008 and our education program targets children studying in classes I to 10 in govt schools. Our mission is to provide support to disadvantaged and poor children for their educational mainstreaming and development with special focus at girl children.
Currently we teach 580 children in two slums of Delhi and two villages of Gurgaon. Quality of education is not satisfactory in govt schools hence this program complements the gaps in school education and sustains the interest of children and their parents in formal education system. Due to this program children are regular in schools and they do not drop out. They understand subjects better and are able to handle class assignments properly. Classes are conducted in slums and villages after school hour i.e., from 2 pm to 7 pm. We conduct remedial classes for those children who live in slums/villages and study in govt schools. Currently we run five centres for primary, four centres for secondary and one centre for non formal education.
All the funds will be utilized to buy English and Hindi books for the children we work with.
