Our story

community Action Society, in collaboration with Sarva Shiksha Mission Kolkata opened two Residential Unit to Support under privileged Boys and Girls who are deprived of basic elementary education and were dwelling in vuhe uniqueness of this residential units being its location within the school premises and the children attend the same formal Government Schools.

Who we are

Community Action Society, a non profit organization based in Kolkata ,West Bengal established in 2008 to cater to the needs of underprivileged children in the areas of education, health, protection, livelihood and other issues persisting in society resulting in an overall development of the community as well as the children. Education plays a pivotal role in child’s life and in order to focus on the needs of children, Community Action Society worked tirelessly to subject the issues of illiteracy among the underprivileged pockets in Kolkata and its adjoining areas.

Our work and its impact

With education and child protection as our prime objectives, we run two residential units for underprivileged boys and girls in Kolkata. In addition to this, we are providing mid day meal to the children studying in government schools where we feed 1200 children coming from backward and downtrodden family backgrounds. We are running preschool education centre for deprived children and provide them holistic education support before enrolling them in formal government schools. We also work in Kotrakhali in Sundarban area in West Bengal where we run coaching classes for adolescent girls. There is a huge impact resulting in the development of the potentials of children.participating in various competitive By providing mid-day meal to nearly 1200 students, inking and creating a platform for them to cope with the studies. We also run a library in primary school Supported by Smile foundation and Pratham book initiative.

How we will utilize these funds

We require funds to set up two libraries for the underprivileged boys and girls in our Residential schools. We will utilize the fund to acquire two kits from PRATHAM for the children to enhance their knowledge and skills.
